Adding and Removing Component Parts

To limit the amount of data in the project to what is necessary, add individual component parts to the components only when needed. There are two ways to do this: the component ribbon and the input data forms.

Certain component parts–operating constraints, costs and revenues–can be added via the component ribbon of the active component or–like the demands–directly in the input data form.

They can be removed again via the context menu of the identifier or the pop-up menu via the button at the end of the line in the form.

Adding and removing component parts is always global.

Adding in the Component Ribbon

In the component ribbon, the forms and tariff groups are used to assign additional costs items, revenues, and operating constraints to the active component (see the following figure).

After each click on a menu item of the split button in the ribbon, the form with the added component part opens. There you can make the necessary entries.

Adding in the Form

In addition to the ribbon, component parts that are preceded by a plus sign in the form (e.g., demands, operating constraints, investment costs, and reinvestment costs) can be added to the form by clicking on this icon (see the following figure).

Adding a Part of the Same Kind Multiple Times

Some parts (e.g., demands and costs) can also be added more than once. If a similar component part already exists, a window appears for naming the new component part to make it distinguishable.

This is essential for functions such as plot preview, time series processing with the ETA, and report generation.

Name for the Added Item

After adding an item of which a similar one already exists, the following window opens.

There, you enter an additional name for the newly added component part. This additional name is initially appended to the identifiers of the associated input and output data and can later also be positioned elsewhere in the identifiers by renaming them (see below). The addition may contain a maximum of 16 characters. You can write it in the brackets provided or type it instead of the brackets.

This name affix is also added to the associated output variables (see the following slider).

The name affix of a component part can be changed subsequently by renaming the identifier.

Renaming

An added component part can be renamed via its context menu or the pop-up menu invoked via the menu button at the end of the line.

The dialog Renaming identifier for renaming similar component parts additionally contains the placeholder __Groupname__ for the name affix that is appended to all associated input and output data (see the following slider). This affix is added not only to the second and subsequent component parts, but also to the first ones as soon as there is more than one component part of its kind.

You change the name affix itself in the two lower input fields German and English for the Placeholder. You change the position of the placeholder in the two upper input fields for the description. To do this, move the __GROUPNAME__ placeholder as shown in the following examples. Under definition you write what should be displayed in the tooltip of the identifier in the form.

Removing

The component part can be removed via the context menu of the identifier or the pop-up menu that is invoked via the menu button at the end of the line. To do this, click remove item in the menu (see following figure).
