The Component CO2_Restriction
The CO2_Restriction component limits the CO2 emissions of the entire energy system.

How the Component Works
The system is optimized according to the CO2 restriction constraint: In the example shown above, as a result of optimization based on Operating costs, the less expensive operation of the Hot_Water_Boiler is only carried out until the CO2 emissions specified in the CO2_Restriction component are reached. Subsequently, the more cost-intensive PowerToHeat plant is used to cover the Heat_Demand.
When using the CO2_Restriction component, optimization always takes place on a year-round coupled basis. Select No compression to yield accurate results. Note the information about Operating Constraints.
Tips for avoiding numerical inaccuracies
Set the limit (Maximum annual CO2 emissions) slightly lower than necessary.
Set a more accurate time series Compression level.
Increase the tolerances (Termination time and Gap).
