Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, Dividing

The calculation methods Add, Subtract, Multiply, and Divide are based on a Reference Time Series, which serves as a summand, subtrahend, factor, or dividend depending on the operation selected.

The time points of the time series must match. Time points that do not match are skipped.

The methods are accessed via the ribbon by Methods → Calculate (see following figure).

Or select Methods → Calculation with time series in the context menu of the time series in the Project Explorer (see following figure).

In the window that opens (see the following example illustration for the addition), select the Reference Time Series and use Select time series to select the other time series (as summands, subtrahends, factors, or divisors depending on the selected arithmetic operation). A multiple selection is possible.

Decide whether the Reference Time Series should be overwritten by the result time series or whether a new time series should be created.

Addition

During addition, the values of the same points in time from the Reference Time Series and the additionally selected time series are added together (see the following schematic diagram).

The following table shows an example of the addition of the Reference Time Series Demand 1 and the two time series Demand 2 and 3.

The Add time series method can also be called using the icon in the lower toolbar.

Subtraction

The remaining selected time series are subtracted from the Reference Time Series (see following schematic diagram).

The following value table shows an example of the subtraction of the selected time series Demand 2 and 3 (subtrahends) from the Reference Time Series Demand 1 (minuend)

The Subtract time series method can also be called using the icon in the lower toolbar.

Multiplication

The Reference Time Series is multiplied by the other selected time series (see the following schematic figure).

The following table shows an example of the multiplication of the Reference Time Series Demand 1 and the other selected time series Demand 2 and 3.

Division

The Reference Time Series (dividend) is divided by the other selected time series (divisors), see following schematic diagram.

The following value table shows an example of dividing the Reference Time Series Parameter 1 by the other selected time series Parameter 2 and 3.
