Individual Word Report Templates

Personalization of the Reports

You can personalize the templates of the Word reports (data report and Variant comparison report), e.g., insert your logo. You create your individual template on the basis of the TOP-Energy standard templates.

You can change the headers and footers and fully customize them to your needs, e.g., insert your own logo, graphic elements, and text fields. You can completely customize the first page and insert as many customized pages as you like before the table of contents. But after the heading “Content” you must not change anything because macros access it.

Storage Locations of the Standard Templates

Variant Comparison Report

Step by Step Guide

When creating an individual template, please proceed as follows.

Saving the Template and Making Copies

  • Save the original template to another location so that you can copy it back if you need to restore the original template.
  • Make another copy of this file in any other location.

Opening via Context Menu

  • You must open the copied file …-Report-Template…dotm via the context menu that is displayed by right-clicking on the file name in Windows Explorer. In the context menu, select Open (not Open with)!

Changing the Template in Word

  • Make the desired changes in the …-Report-Template…dotm file opened in Microsoft Word: edit the header and footer, change the logo, add text or graphic design elements.
  • Do not change anything in the table of contents and the pages that follow it!
  • Save the changed file in Microsoft Word as a DOTM file.

Integrating the Template Into TOP-Energy

  • In the settings for the Data report or the Variant comparison report, activate Use my … report template and enter the file path to your individual format template below (see the following figures).
  • As an alternative to activating an individual template, you can replace the default template in the TOP-Energy installation folder. To do this, copy or move the changed file to the TOP-Energy installation folder with the path C:\program files\TOP-Energy$version$\program\modules\efdoc\ini and thus overwrite the original file located there, which you have previously saved in another location.
  • Now all data reports are created with the template of your design.
