The tutorial shows how to compare a reference case with several expansion stages: with Photovoltaics and a Heat Pump and additionally once with hydrogen and once with a battery system. For this purpose, one Simulation node is created per support year. In the Scenario manager, the Simulation nodes of a variant are assigned to the support years.
Reference Case
The Reference case applies to the start year 2022. A Heat demand is covered by a gas boiler, and an Electricity demand is covered by the Electricity supplier (see following figure).
Variant With Photovoltaics and Heat Pump
The first variant supplements the Reference case with Photovoltaics and a Heat Pump (see following figure).
Variant With Hydrogen
For the variant with hydrogen, several Simulation nodes are created in the Project explorer and assigned to the respective support years in the scenario manager (see following figure).
The scheme of the Simulation node 2022 corresponds to the variant with Photovoltaics and hydrogen. In the Simulation node 2026, a Fuel Cell and a Power-to-Gas plant are added (see following figure).
In the scheme of the Simulation node 2031, the connection to the hydrogen network is made (see following figure).
In the scheme of the Simulation node 2042, the Hot Water Boiler and the Fuel Supplier are replaced by a second Heat Pump and another Photovoltaic system (see following figure).
Variant With Battery Expansion
For the variant with battery expansion, the Simulation nodes are also created in the Project explorer and assigned to the respective support years in the scenario manager (see following figure).
The scheme of the Simulation node 2022 corresponds to the variant with Photovoltaics and Heat Pump. In the Simulation node 2026, an Electricity Storage and a Priority are added (see following figure).
In the scheme of the Simulation node 2031, another Photovoltaic system and another Electricity Storage system are added (see following figure).
In the scheme of Simulation node 2042, the Hot Water Boiler and the Fuel Supplier are replaced by a second Heat Pump (see following figure).
Results in the Variant Comparison
The Variant comparison Overview compares economic and ecological parameters (see following figure).
Parameters that include the entire period under consideration, e.g., Net present value and Dynamic payback time, show the differences between the variants. Some economic and ecological parameters change abruptly in the support years, for example because additional plants are built. In the Overview, these parameters (e.g., Cash flow and CO2 emissions) are only shown for the start year. The changes that the expansion stages entail can be seen in the forms under the variant tabs (see following figure).
As shown in the time course of the net present value, each expansion is subject to subsequent investment costs. As a result of these investments, CO2 emissions decrease from support year to support year.
