The Component Fuel Mixer

The component Fuel_Mixer represents a universal model of fuel mixers for solid and liquid materials, and for gas.

Component Template

The component template Fuel_Mixer is located in the subfolder _Distribution Network in the Component template library folder Fuel Supply.

Integration Into a Scheme

Connect the fuel flows as shown in the following figure.

The following figure shows an example of how to integrate the component into a scheme.

How the Component Works

The component represents the blending (mixing) process. With the activated Fuel material model Considering composition, different fuel flows must not be connected without the Fuel Mixer component. Otherwise the model message 8523 appears.

Technical Input Data

In the Technical input data (see the following figure with the material model Fuel, Energy), the proportion of the admixing stream in relation to the amount of energy can be limited by specifying the Minimum share of admixture and the Maximum share of admixture.

The share in the unit kW/kW can be converted to volume ratios if the heating values are constant. For example, if you want to mix a natural gas and hydrogen stream and limit the admixing stream of hydrogen to 10 Vol.-%, you can convert this in the following way.

When the Fuel material model Considering composition is activated, the Technical input data also contain information on the Thermal and chemical state, for which you can Input estimated values or Adopt values from the main input flow:

    • Speficic heat capacity
    • Density
    • Heating value
  • Elementary composition (Chemical composition)
    • Mass fraction of C
    • Mass fraction of H
    • Mass fraction of N
    • Mass fraction of O
    • Mass fraction of S
    • Mass fraction of water
    • Mass fraction of ashes

Specify the Elementary composition if a Fuel Cell follows in the connected fuel net.
