Tutorial 09: Multi-Temperature System With Stratified Thermal Storage

Navigation:

This tutorial demonstrates the multi-temperature management in a district heating network through the integration of a stratified thermal storage tank.

Variant With Heat Storage

The first variant contains only a simple heat storage.

Variant With Stratified Heat Storage

In the second variant, the individual heat demands are connected to the storage via separate circuits according to their respective temperature levels (high temperature – HT, low temperature – LT). In addition, multiple generator levels exist, which can be raised to higher temperature levels using Heat Pumps. By integrating the Stratified Heat Storage, lower temperature demands can also be supplied by utilizing the higher temperature from the hot layer, while the power-to-heat unit can be used to cover peak loads.
