Overlay Icons

Dynamic Symbols

In the scheme, small additional circular symbols, so-called overlay icons, can indicate that investment or operating costs, operating constraints, or structural optimization are activated for a component. These symbols can be displayed optionally. You activate and deactivate the display of these icons for each scheme individually with the Overlay icons button in the Show group of the Scheme ribbon. If the function is active, the overlay icons of the activated properties are displayed in the upper right corner of the component symbol as well as on the top of the component tooltip (see the following figure).

In the tooltip, empty circles indicate that the corresponding properties, for example investment costs and operating constraints in the following figure, are not specified for the component.

The overlay icons are updated dynamically, i.e., when adding or removing the corresponding component parts, the associated overlay icons are also added or removed immediately.

The following four overlay icons are available (exemplarily shown on the Boiler symbol in the figures).

Investment Costs

The overlay icon for investment costs indicates that Investment costs are stored for the component.

Operating Costs

The overlay icon for operating costs indicates that Operating costs are stored for the component.

Operational Constraints

The Operational constraints overlay icon indicates that at least one operational constraint is selected for the component in the Input data form.

Structural Optimization

The Structural Optimization overlay icon indicates that the component is being structurally optimized, i.e., its optimal size in the system is being determined.

Year-Round Coupled Optimization

The overlay icon for year-round coupled optimization indicates that the component contains a year-round coupled constraint.
