How the Scenario Manager Works
Managing of senarios, you can define Support years for economic, ecologic, and energetic evaluation and evaluate different models for different support years. The scenario manager is to be found in the Variant form. You assign each support year a model to be simulated (a Simulation node with scheme). For each support year, a simulation with operational optimization is then performed via the Variant module.
When simulating several support years, some result values are transferred to the following year as initial values. The already accumulated Full load and Operating hours of a plant, for example, are transferred to the subsequent period as initial values. This allows the reinvestment cost timing to be correctly determined. In the case of the Electricity_Tariff_CHP_Surcharge, the already remunerated Full load hours are counted continuously over the support years in order to correctly calculate the end of the remuneration period.
Two Parameter Input Options
The Scenario Manager has two ways of specifying parameters for the individual support years: in tabular form (see the following figure) and in the form of multiple Simulation nodes.
Tabular Input
You can specify the change of parameters in the support years in tables.
Use the
plus- and
minus signs located to the right of the table to add and remove rows. Click in the cell of the Component and then of the Data value. This invokes drop-down lists.
Multiple Simulation Nodes
The following figure shows the choice of parameter input by multiple simulation nodes.
When using multiple simulation nodes managing of scenarios, create a Simulation node with the corresponding scenario for each support year in the Project explorer below the Variant node. Then, in the scenario manager, assign one Simulation node to be simulated from the drop-down list to each support year (see following figure).

Use the green plus symbol
in the scenario manager form to add an additional support year.
Rates of Price Increases and CHP Tariff
If the component Electricity_Tariff_CHP_Surcharge is in the project, set the year after the CHP surcharge expires as a support year.
Simulating and Managing of Scenarios
Start the simulation of the Simulation nodes in the scenario manager from the Variant node. The single simulation of the Simulation nodes does not allow the necessary data transfer from the previous periods.
Results of the Scenario Manager
Separate Variant forms show the economic, ecological, and energy results of the Start year and each Support year (see following figure).
In the Variant comparison, the total results of the variants are included without further differentiation of the scenarios.
Structural Optimization
Structural optimization cannot be carried out for several years. Therefore, it is not recommended to use sructural optimization and scenario manager together.
To determine the dimensions of a power system, you can proceed successively: perform the structural optimization for the first Simulation node, note the results (the nominal capacities of the plants), then deactivate structural optimization for the components and enter the result nominal capacity from the structural optimization in the Technical input data of the component, also enter the results in the model of the next support year. To add more components as structural optimization components, follow this procedure again.
