Weather Adjustment
Heating and cooling energy consumption is influenced by the climate conditions prevailing at the location. In order to compare and evaluate consumption time series from different years or regions, a weather adjustment must be carried out. After weather adjustment, the data can be compared with each other, for example to check energy saving measures.
To apply the Weather adjustment method to a time series, use the menu items Methods → Change values → Weather adjustment (see following figure).
In the window that opens (see following figure), use Select time series to select the time series to be adjusted. A multiple selection is possible.
Select whether the time series are Heat or Cold load profiles.
Weather information in the form of two Degree day figures is required for weather adjustment:
If no Degree day number is available for the Measure year or the Reference year, it can be calculated automatically by selecting Temperature behavior based on the temperature profile and the specification of the Average room temperature and the Heating or cooling limit.
You can select the time series directly from the drop-down list or via a selection window that is opened by clicking the adjacent
button.
In this case, the entries for the Heating or cooling limit are made in an area of the dialog that is then shown below.
When entering Degree day numbers directly, it is not necessary to enter the heating or cooling limit.
For the Weather information of the Reference year the Degree day number 3883 Kd/a is entered by default. This value corresponds to the average value of the years 1950-1970 in Würzburg, to which VDI 3807 refers for long-term comparisons.
A climate correction factor is determined from the Degree day figures or Temperature curves in combination with the Average room temperature and the Heating or cooling limit. The time series to be adjusted is scaled with this climate correction factor and thus made comparable.
Select whether the respective existing time series is to be overwritten with the weather-adjusted one or whether a new time series is to be created each time.
