Economic Input Data

Each technical component has Economic input data. In this form, you enter the Investment costs, Reinvestment costs, the Operating costs, and the Costs and revenues for operating resources, if applicable (see the following figure).

You can add additional cost items using the component ribbon and the plus symbols in the form.

Note also the information on CapEx und OpEx and on actors.

You specify the energy costs in the Tariff Components.

Investment Costs and Reinvestment Costs

You can enter Fixed investment costs, Specific investment costs, or an Investment cost function (see following figure). The same applies to Reinvestment costs. In addition, specify the Term of depreciation for the Investment costs. The fact that investment costs are stored for a component can be displayed in the scheme as an Overlay Icon.

The Specific investment costs are the investment costs depending on the installed nominal capacity, for example in EUR/kW. They are multiplied by the Nominal capacity to determine the total investment costs of the component transferred to the  Variant module.

You can specify the Reinvestment costs as Fixed reinvestment costs or as a Reinvestment cost function. For the Calculation of the reinvestment date, you can select from three different options in the drop-down list:

  • Reinvestment after a fixed amount of time,
  • Reinvestment depending on operation hours,
  • Reinvestment depending on full load hours.

For the Depreciation of reinvestment, select from the drop-down list:

  • Term of depreciation for reinvestment or
  • Reinvestment as one-time operation cost.

Operating Costs and Revenues

You can specify the Operating costs in four different ways:

  • Energy-specific (related to an amount of energy: Operating costs per energy unit),
  • Operating-hour-specific (related to an operating hour: Costs per operating hour, specifying a Minimum part load in the Technical input data is necessary),
  • Investment-specific (in percent per year or day: Partial operating costs per investment costs),
  • Mass-specific (related to the produced mass, e.g., of steam)
  • as Miscellaneous operating costs (in Euro per time unit).

If operating costs are stored for a component, this can be indicated in the scheme by an Overlay symbol.

Certain components generate costs and revenues through operation, e.g., Water costs or revenues for produced Oxygen or for CO2 binding through the sale of EUA. Enter these as Costs and revenues for operating resources.

Inflation Rates and Actors

You can optionally enter Rates of price increases: for single cost items or for all costs together (see following figure).

If you select Different price inflation rates for each cost component, a line for entering the associated Inflation rate will appear under each cost item (see the following figure).

You can also transfer the price increase data from the master data of the project. A separate article informs about the use of Actors (Stakeholders).
