Extras Ribbon

The Extras Ribbon

The Extras ribbon tab is located on the right (see the following figure). The ribbon provides access to information about TOP-Energy and to the general settings.

The Extras ribbon is divided into the following groups:

Start

The Start group contains the application button for executing the module selected in the Project explorer.

Settings

General project settings are to be made in the group Settings.

In the first two drop-down lists you can select the displayed currency and the display language.

In the third drop-down list, you can select one of the color schemes of the older TOP-Energy versions 2.6 or 2.7 for the display as an alternative to the color scheme of the current TOP-Energy user interface. This offer is especially aimed at the long-time users of TOP-Energy, who can thus keep their usual color settings.

The button Advanced settings opens the Options dialog, where you can also set the number format and numerous other properties of the program.

Under  DWD settings you enter your login data for the German Weather Service (user name and password, see following figure) to be able to download DWD weather data sets with TOP-Energy. If you do not have a DWD account yet, you can find the link to register here.

Maintenance

With the button Check for updates you can search for software updates and then install them. For this purpose, a connection to the software update server is established via the Internet.

Module registration

A click on the button Module registration opens the following window, where you can Remove -> the displayed registered modules, e.g. eSim, eVariant, or eValuate, from your TOP-Energy installation or register additional modules via the <- Add button.

To add a module, select the modulereg.ini file from the modules subfolder of your TOP-Energy program folder. The folder is typically located at:

C:\Programs\TOP-Energy$version$\program\modules\.

Before adding or removing modules, close all other TOP-Energy applications, and restart TOP-Energy after adding or removing modules.

Log files

The Log files button opens the EnergyFrames$version$ folder in the user settings directory where the log files are stored. By default this is the folder C:\Users\$UserName$\AppData\Roaming\TOP-Energy\EnergyFrames$Version$.

From here you can open the log files:

efsetmodelelementary.log (log file for the material model change),
efupdatecomponents.log (log file for the update), and
eframe.log (if the function create log file is activated in the Options).

License (split button)

The license information includes the license key, the expiration date of the registration, and the possibility to enter a new license key.

About

The general program information contains the current program version and the contact details of the TOP-Energy development and sales department.

Reset GUI

The Reset GUI button resets the entire user interface to factory settings. This can be helpful, for example, if windows are unintentionally spread across different monitors. A restart is required.
