TOP-Energy License
In order to use TOP-Energy within the agreed period of use, a valid license key must first be entered. When starting TOP-Energy the following prompt for entering the registration key appears.
If you want to enter a new license key for an already licensed TOP-Energy, access the 
License information via the License split button in the Maintenance group of the Extras ribbon (see following figure).
Then a window appears with the license information and the question: Would you like to enter a new license key?
After clicking the Yes button, the following window opens where you can enter the registration key.
After entering the name, you can copy the entire license key to the clipboard and then paste it completely using the Paste from clipboard button.
After confirming with OK you will be prompted to activate the license key.
Within the period of 5 days, the software can usually be used without restriction and without activation.
In the window that prompts to activate TOP-Energy after every start of TOP-Energy, you can postpone the activation by the option Later within the 5-day period (see following figure).
Online Activation
In the Activation required window which appears after starting TOP-Energy, the user is offered online activation. This is the easiest and fastest way of activation.
The Online option connects to the activation server under http://graphing.gfai.de and activates automatically. If necessary, please adjust your firewall settings accordingly. After successful activation, the following message appears and TOP-Energy can be used without further action.
If the online activation is not successful and an error message as shown in the following figure appears, this does not mean that the key is not valid, but that the firewall settings possibly prevent an online activation. In this case, perform an offline activation.
Offline Activation
If the firewall prohibits connections between software solutions and external servers TOP-Energy can also be activated offline. To do this, select the Offline option after the TOP-Energy start (see following figure).
The following dialog shows the license key and the computer ID.
The user must enter an Activation Code there. The following sections explain how to request this code by e-mail or phone. Transfer the received activation code into the activation window and confirm with OK. The above shown message will confirm the success of the activation.
Request Code Automatically by E-Mail
To request the Activation Code by e-mail, use the Send Activation Request button. This will automatically generate an e-mail with Microsoft Outlook (see following figure), which you can send without comment.
In return, the activation code will also be sent by e-mail:
If you are using an e-mail program other than Microsoft Outlook or if automatic e-mail generation in your system is prevented, request the activation code manually by e-mail.
Request Code Manually by E-Mail
Transfer the license key and computer ID displayed in the dialog manually into an e-mail and send it to info [@] top-energy.de. It is also possible to send a screenshot of the offline activation dialog.
The activation code will then again be sent by e-mail.
Request Code by Telephone
TOP-Energy can also be activated by telephone. The telephone number for this is +49 30 814563-741. Please have the license key and the computer ID ready. These are also displayed in the License information (see above).
You can then receive the activation code either by telephone or by e-mail.
Update of TOP-Energy
To connect to the update server, your system must access http://graphing.gfai.de (port 80). If necessary, please adjust your firewall settings accordingly.
