Key Figure Components

These components can be used to calculate typical or user-specific key figures for the modeled energy system.

There are the following key figure components.

The templates for the Key Figures are located in the component templates folder of the same name. The key figure components are added by drag-and-drop like the other components on the scheme. The key figures are on their own layer and can be shown and hidden like the networks. The key figure symbols do not have pins, and no connenction to other components is necessary (see the following figure).

How the Components Work

The mathematical definition is shown as a formula at the top of the Input data forms Technical input data (or Operational costs and Investment costs for the Levelized Cost of Energy key figure). The formulas each consist of a numerator and a denominator, which in turn each consist of different sums.

You can use the automatic import or parameterize and define the components individually.

Automatic Import

If you want to consider all the components on the scheme of the existing model and assign them to the respective formula components, perform the automatic import using the Import components button. Existing values will be overwritten. You can then remove individual component parts again (see the following figure).

Individual Parameterization

As an alternative to importing, which may involve reading in a large number of components, you can define and parameterize the key figure according to your own requirements by Adding individually selected elements to be added to the sum or (in the form below) Adding components to be subtracted. With the plus symbol you add one more element at a time. For example, you can add all Electricity Demands from the energy system model for the Self Consumption Rate to form the sum of the electricity demands as a constituent. The parameterization is done in two columns. Assign the component parts from the existing energy system model to each of the individual formula constituents. First select a Component from the drop-down list, then click the Select button (see the following figure).

Select the desired parameter from the component in the window that opens (see the following figure).

Weighting factor

In addition, a Weighting factor w can be inserted for each parameter, and (further) elements can be subtracted in some key figure components. To do this, place a check mark in the corresponding box under the heading Advanced Settings at the bottom of the form. The formula will then be extended by elements highlighted in red, which you can additionally parameterize in the form (see the following figure).

Based on the weighting factor, a user-specific allocation method for the key figure C02 emission factor can be modeled for a CHP system, for example. When calculating the CO2 Factor for a CHP system, the components of the Programmable Control must additionally be used; this is explained in the article Allocation Methods for Specific CO2 Emissions.
