Three Methods to Save ETA Views
Views of time series can be created and saved in the ETA.
A saved view contains both the plots and the value tables. How to create the Plot Windows and the value tables (Data Grids) is explained in the linked articles.
Three methods are available for saving time series views in the ETA:
Getting Started with the Save View Method
Open ETA independently of TOP-Energy. This is the only way to use the Save View method.
Create an ETA project and load time series, e.g. by importing raw data into the ETA. Drag and drop the time series into the project in the ETA Project Explorer. Save the project.
This project file with the extension .eta must not be moved or renamed.
Creating and Saving a View
The view can be created with all available functions of the ETA. For example, it can contain several individual plot windows, stack or X-Y plot windows, and so on, value tables, and properties windows.
Once the view has been created as desired, it can be saved using the menu items File →
Save view or the corresponding icon in the toolbar. The following figure shows an example of a view to be saved with two time series (electricity and heat demand) in separate plot windows. The time series are also displayed in the value table (Data Grid).
In the window that opens, specify the name and location of the time series view. The ETA workspace file has the file extension .etawsp.
After saving the view and the associated ETA project file, ETA can be closed. The query as to whether the current view should be saved does not refer to the view previously saved in an individual location, but to the default view that is loaded when the ETA is opened.
Open View
To load a view saved with the Save View function, use the menu items File →
Open view (see following figure).
In the window that opens, select your workspace file in the location you selected.
It is irrelevant which project is open in the ETA and whether a project is open. If the saved view is loaded, the associated projects are also loaded. If other projects have previously been opened in the ETA, they remain open next to projects from the loaded view.
In order to obtain exactly the desired view, the project and the view should be saved immediately one after the other, because subsequent changes to the project have an effect on the restoration of the view.
The saved view cannot be restored, if the ETA project file in which the time series of the view were saved is moved or renamed. Renaming or moving the project file must be undone in order to restore the view. The ETA workspace file with the .etawsp extension, on the other hand, can be renamed and moved.
If values were subsequently changed and saved in the ETA project file, the previously saved view opens the changed values.
If the time series of the plots in the project file were deleted after the view has been saved, empty plot windows can be displayed in the view.
If time series were added to the project after saving the view, they are displayed only in the Project Explorer when the view is opened.
Exchange and Transfer of ETA Views
Because the location of the project file is defined in the ETA workspace file, the views cannot be exchanged by e-mail. The ETA views can be transferred by using a USB stick or a shared server to store the project file.
