Ribbons
A ribbon is a strip in the upper area of the TOP-Energy user interface that contains buttons with commands. The ribbons are displayed in the upper part of the TOP-Energy user interface.
There are several ribbons. The structure of each ribbon is unchangeable. Each ribbon is related to a specific context. Depending on the context, one of the following ribbons is displayed:

Structure of a Ribbon
Basically the ribbons are divided into groups separated by vertical lines and identified by the group names. The following figure shows the typical parts of a ribbon.
The buttons (buttons, command labels, commands) are temporarily highlighted in dark gray when the mouse moves over them.
Buttons with a permanent dark gray background indicate that the function to be selected via them is activated, for example the display of Tooltips in the scheme or Pin forms in the form view. If the function is deactivated by clicking again or switching to an alternative function, the dark gray background disappears. The following two figures show this as an example for the functions Select and Align to grid points.
Split buttons can be recognized by the small triangle pointing downwards. Split buttons are buttons that subdivide when clicked. As in a drop-down menu, a selection of buttons opens for the related functions (see the following figure).
Other examples of split buttons are Tools and Align in the Scheme ribbon (see following figure).
Here, the last selected function is displayed graphically on the split button.
Opening a Ribbon
Ribbons can be opened manually or automatically.
Manually
A click on the ribbon tab label opens the ribbon.
Automatically
In the Advanced settings you can enable the Context related ribbon tab change. It causes the ribbons to open automatically according to the active context.
Then, the Scheme ribbon opens when you click on the 
Scheme node in the Project explorer. The ribbon of a component opens together with the form view of the component after a single click on the 
component in the Project explorer or a double click on the component in the scheme; and the simulator ribbon opens together with the Simulation form when clicking on the 
Simulation node in the Project explorer.
Quick Access Toolbar
Regardless of which ribbon is currently displayed, the quick access toolbar is always located in the upper left corner. By default it contains the functions 
Save project, 
Undo last step (<Ctrl>+<Z>), and 
Restore last step (<Ctrl>+<Y>).
Application Button
The application button 
Execute module starts the execution of the module selected in the Project explorer. The button is displayed in all ribbons (see the following figure).
The key combination <Ctrl>+<T> is also used to start the selected module.
