How the Component Works
The component template Solar Collector is based on a generally valid model of solar thermal collectors. It can be used to depict flat-plate collectors and most tube collectors (evacuated tube solar thermal collectors or solar collectors with heat pipes). Within an energy project, an individual component can be created from the component template by entering characteristic values in the forms. For the less common collectors with higher concentration factors, in contrast, the component template Concentrating Solar Collector is suitable.
The Solar Collector component obtains the environmental data for measuring solar radiation from the Solar Radiation component and, if applicable, from the project master data.
The angles of tilt (here called elevation) and azimuth are to be entered in degrees without selecting a unit in the unit field. TOP-Energy converts degrees into radians. In the Parameter study, the unit field for the angles also remains empty.
