Integration Into a Scheme
How the Component Works
First select the pump type from the drop-down list: Ideal, with Throttle, Proportional pressure, or Constant pressure regulation (see the following figure). The form adapts accordingly.
Performance
Enter the volume flow rate as Estimated input value.
Hydraulic network losses and nominal power
For Hydraulic losses of the network, specify the Pressure loss in the network and the Corresponding volume flow.
Under Nominal capacity, enter the Nominal power of the pump motor.
The other Technical input data depend on the pump type.
Ideal
An ideal pump has no loss of efficiency at partial load. The electrical power requirement only depends on the pressure loss entered and the corresponding volume flow.
Specify the Motor efficiency and the Polytropic efficiency. The Reference values in the table in the form provide orientation (see the following figure).
Throttle Regulation
The pump with throttle regulation is equipped with a throttling element which generates an additional pressure drop when actuated. This reduces the volume flow of the heat transfer medium according to a defined Heat Demand.
For the pump with throttle control, specify the Pump characteristic line with the absolute values of the Nominal volume flow of the pump and the Total head. In a second table, specify the power consumption (power input characteristic line) with the Active electric power as a function of the Nominal volume flow of the pump (see following figure).
Pressure control
For the pumps with pressure control, proportional pressure control and constant pressure control, the nominal flow rate, the nominal head, the nominal power of the pump motor, and the nominal speed must be specified for the design point of the pump.
In addition, the pump characteristic curve and the power consumption characteristic curve must be specified (see following figure).
To ensure numerical stability, the following instructions, which are also given in the form, must be observed.
In the declaration, any value of the volume flows specified in the characteristic line must be selected as the start value for the variable V_dot_ref.
In addition to the values known from the data sheets, the pump characteristic lines must contain two value pairs each as lower and upper limit.
Proportional Pressure Regulation
The Proportional pressure regulated pump controls the pressure depending on the flow rate. As a result, additional energy can be saved when the Heat Demand decreases and the flow rate of the heat transfer medium is thus reduced, as the power consumption of the pump is reduced.
Constant Pressure Regulation
The Constant pressure regulated pump is a speed-controlled pump with constant pressure control. In case of fluctuating Heat Demand, it ensures that the supply pressure remains constant for the entire flow rate range from Vmin to Vmax .
