Advantages of Component and Primitive References
Component and primitive references establish relations between components and between components and project base data. They simplify the parameterization of components and avoid entering the same values several times by referring to the values already entered.
Component References
Component references exist in components that are characterized by a special dependency on certain other components. In particular, they play a role in special tariff structures, such as the CHP Surcharge. Here it is necessary to show the reference to certain components. For the CHP surcharge, for example, it is decisive which electricity grids are fed into and to what extent own electricity is consumed. This can be mapped with the help of the component references (see followig figure from Tutorial 06, variant Heat-Contracting).
The components to which reference is made are selected from drop-down lists.
Primitive References
Primitive references occur in components into which input data from other forms can be transferred.
Linking Project Master Data
Using Project Master Data Links, you can reference data in the project master data, such as weather data.
Selecting Components From the Project Tree
Certain forms include a button 
for selecting the components to be linked, which opens the project tree where you can choose the component to link (see the following two figures).
For example, this option is available in the Parameter Study and in components of the Programmable Control.
