Special Features of the Fuel Components

You can change the Material properties of the fuel components.

For the combustion components

the following applies:

The additional pins for connecting the Fresh Air component are only displayed for the fuel model Considering composition and only if the fuel pin of the combustion component is connected to the fuel net (see following two figures).

The material composition of the fuel, i.e., the specific proportions of carbon, hydrogen, etc., is taken into account, and the combustion, e.g., in the boiler and in the gas turbine, is calculated stoichiometrically with the Fuel Material property Considering composition only. This also results in the calculation of the needed fresh air and the emitted exhaust gas. Therefore, the additional pins for connection to the Fresh Air component are displayed only under the conditions mentioned.

If the material model Considering composition is selected, you may only mix different fuel flows with the Fuel Mixer component and must not combine them without this component. Otherwise, the model message 8523 appears.

Technical Input Data

If the material model Fuel, Considering composition, is activated, an additional input option for the Combustion calculation appears in the Technical input data of the combustion components. You can use this to specify the Air ratio, a Constant air flow rate (e.g., in kg/s) or the Estimated exhaust gas temperature (see the following two figures of the Technical input data for the Hot Water Boiler component: first figure with the Fuel material model Energy, second figure with the Fuel model Considering composition).

Technical Output Data

If the Fuel model Considering composition is activated, additional information on Fuel, Material properties, Air supply, Exhaust, and Ash residue appears in the Technical output data of the combustion components.
